Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities
The PCB Design Engineer is responsible for the layout and design of a backplane PCB for a flight control computer within the Hardware Engineering team. The role ensures compliance with technical, manufacturing, and aerospace requirements while collaborating closely with hardware, systems, software, and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Validate connector pin assignments against ICDs and mechanical drawings.
Define and validate PCB stack-up, layer count, power distribution, and ground planes.
Ensure controlled impedance requirements are met.
Perform PCB routing and dimension traces according to lightning protection and short-circuit requirements.
Ensure compliance with segregation, isolation, and safety constraints.
Review schematics, layouts, and manufacturing documentation for completeness, compliance, and manufacturability.
Interface with systems, hardware, software, and production teams throughout the development cycle.
Required Competencies
Minimum 5 years of experience in PCB design and layout.
Experience with mixed-signal, high-speed digital, analog, low-power, and high-current PCB designs intended for high-volume production.
Proficiency with Allegro, OrCAD, Valor (DFM), and AutoCAD (2D).
Experience creating PCB components and maintaining schematic/layout libraries.
Ability to generate manufacturing and assembly documentation compliant with IPC and ASME standards.
Knowledge of IPC standards: IPC-600, IPC-610, IPC-6012, IPC-6013, and IPC-7351.
Strong PCB layout and design expertise
Attention to detail and quality
Manufacturing and DFM awareness
Technical collaboration and communication skills
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary aerospace environment
Miscellaneous Requirements
The work model is hybrid (at least 3 days at the office).
Professional proficiency in spoken and written French is mandatory.
Knowledge of English is required to communicate and work with customers outside the province of Quebec. / La connaissance de l'anglais est requise pour communiquer et travailler avec nos clients situés à l'extérieur de la province de Québec.
