Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities
The FPGA Development Architect is responsible for leading FPGA development activities within the Hardware Engineering team, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with aerospace standards, and successful delivery of projects within cost and schedule objectives. The role also contributes to the overall FPGA design and verification strategy while providing technical leadership and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Define FPGA architectures in collaboration with system, hardware, and software teams.
Lead FPGA development, integration, verification, and validation activities.
Prepare and review technical documentation and compliance evidence in accordance with DO-254.
Ensure full requirements traceability from design through verification.
Review and approve complex FPGA designs and implementations.
Act as the technical interface between systems, software, hardware, and manufacturing teams.
Contribute to continuous improvement of FPGA development practices.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Required Competencies
Engineering degree (Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related field); Master's or PhD considered an asset.
10 to 15 years of FPGA development experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
Strong expertise in VHDL, Verilog, FPGA/ASIC development and verification.
Experience with FPGA platforms such as Xilinx, Intel/Altera, and Microchip (Microsemi).
Knowledge of FPGA architectures, high-speed interfaces, memories, and embedded processing.
Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
Knowledge of DO-254 and DO-160 standards.
Experience with avionics products (mission computers, displays, embedded aerospace systems).
Programming experience with Python, C, and C++.
Miscellaneous Requirements
The work model is hybrid (at least 3 days at the office).
Professional proficiency in spoken and written French is mandatory.
Knowledge of English is required to communicate and work with customers outside the province of Quebec. / La connaissance de l'anglais est requise pour communiquer et travailler avec nos clients situés à l'extérieur de la province de Québec.
