Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced IMA Systems Architect / Avionics Systems Engineer to support the design, development, and evolution of next-generation Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) platforms. In this role, you will contribute to innovative avionics architecture initiatives, define platform requirements, support system integration activities, and verify IMA solutions within laboratory and test-bench environments. You will work closely with System Integrators, Function Suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure robust, scalable, and certifiable avionics architectures that meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Propose innovative and disruptive architectural concepts related to Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems.
Design, develop, and verify IMA-based avionics systems using laboratory and test-bench environments.
Define and specify platform requirements for avionics systems.
Configure IMA modules and produce associated configuration and interface management documentation.
Support analysis activities for current and future IMA platforms.
Collaborate with System Integrators and Function Suppliers within a DO-297 framework.
Participate in architecture reviews, system integration activities, and technical discussions.
Ensure technical solutions align with aviation standards, platform constraints, and operational requirements.
Required Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience in avionics systems engineering, architecture, integration, or verification activities.
Strong knowledge of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architectures.
Understanding of DO-297 development and integration processes.
Knowledge of ARINC 653 and ARINC 664 standards.
Experience defining system or platform requirements.
Experience with system integration, verification, and validation of avionics systems.
Strong technical documentation and interface management skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Fluent in both English and French
Miscellaneous Requirements
Experience as a System Architect or Solution Architect in the aerospace industry.
Knowledge of avionics networking and data communication architectures.
Experience with configuration management and interface control documentation (ICDs).
Familiarity with certification standards and aerospace compliance processes.
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
Experience supporting complex avionics integration programs.
Knowledge of flight deck, cockpit, or mission systems architectures.
Experience working with major aerospace OEMs or avionics suppliers.
Familiarity with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cameo, Capella, or similar.
Hybrid work model.
Minimum three days per week onsite in Montreal.
Additional onsite presence may be required during integration and testing phases.
Knowledge of English is required to communicate and work with customers outside the province of Quebec. / La connaissance de l'anglais est requise pour communiquer et travailler avec nos clients situés à l'extérieur de la province de Québec.
