Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities
We are seeking an RTOS Specialist – Safety-Critical Multicore Development to support the design, development and certification of our airborne embedded safety critical real-time operation system software product (M-RTOS) for integration with various multicore processors (and system-on-chip architectures). In this role, you’ll have the chance to apply and deepen your expertise in advanced software engineering principles while working on systems where reliability, security, and performance are paramount. You’ll be part of a team building solutions that power safety-critical environments, giving you the opportunity to influence high-integrity designs and tackle complex challenges that truly matter.
Responsibilities:
Design, development and test of safety-critical software complying with applicable standards and focus on software architectures that are robust, reliable and fault-tolerant.
Lead a team of software engineers through technical domain expertise and knowledge of best practices.
Collaborate with engineers from other cross-functional groups such as systems, safety and test to ensure product and program level needs are met.
Participate in safety assessments, analyses and review of work products created by other functional groups that affect safety software features.
Create and maintain necessary documentation to provide evidence of rigor in accordance with relevant standards (for example software requirements, architecture and design decisions, etc.)
Required Competencies
8+ years of experience in safety-critical software development
MSc or BSc degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent
Prior experience developing and/or certifying safety critical software for use on multicore processors
Experience with multicore architectures (e.g., symmetric multiprocessing kernel, type 1 hypervisor, separation kernel, etc.)
Exceptional knowledge of C language
Experience with real-time software development, including conducting preliminary and critical design reviews
Effective communication skills
Desirable Skills / Experience
Knowledgeable regarding ARM virtualization extensions
Experience with Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC or i.MX 8/9 processors, or equivalent
Hard real-time performance tuning
Expertise in software engineering principles, with a particular emphasis on reliability, security, and performance due to the critical nature of the systems involved
Ability to interface with customer and other team members
Ability to work independently
Awareness of software and hardware mitigation approaches for microprocessor shared resource interferences
Miscellaneous Requirements
Work can be done remotely.
For employees based in Montreal, the work model is hybrid (at least one day at the office).
The position might require travel to visit customers (in North America)
Knowledge of English is required to communicate and work with customers outside the province of Quebec. / La connaissance de l'anglais est requise pour communiquer et travailler avec nos clients situés à l'extérieur de la province de Québec.
